Poggio Primo

The wine-producing farm "Poggio1°" celebrates today fifty years of activity. Marino Marini began to market his wine with a great passion which was then inherited by his son Vezio and his nephew Pietro. Driven by the same enthusiasm, he produces today a D.O.C.G. Chianti wine, thanks also to a fertile and sunny land, perfectly suitable for growing vines. For the community of Castiglion Fibocchi (AR), the farm represents a prestigious activity and at the same time it is a reference for those who wish to taste a really genuine wine. Being a medium size farm, the production of wine at "Poggio 1°" is still carried out in a traditional way: the grapes, gathered from the typical Chianti vines, are directly transported to Marini cellar where the wine maturing process takes place in cement and stainless steel casks. This simple and traditional process is also favoured by the lucky position af the underground cellar, far away from endogenous agents such as ligth and heat. Marini D.O.C.G. Chianti thus keeps unchanged its organoleptic characteristics. We can sy that the wines produced by "Poggio 1°"estate, with its excellent position, were preferred by the most important families since the Middle Age, like the Medici's. Today, this grape nectar can be found in the best restaurants also thanks to the selection made by the Tuscany Region at the Enoteca Italiana in Siena who has declared this farm to be one of the best producers in Tuscany.
