Capafons-Ossó family has been dedicated to growing vineyards and producing wines for already five generations cultivating the land of Mas de Masos estate. Each generation has combined their inherited knowledge with new developments. Today, with the younger generation of oenologists, we are able to continuo producing high quality wines. Cellers CAPAFONS-OSSÓ combines tradition and innovation, again using local grapes and with the introduction of new varieties we are able to variate and improve our products. Besides this, we are now using more modern methods to control the fruit ripening and the fermentation process. Mas de Masos is a beautiful area with its microclimate. The vineyards are integrated with the forest areas, keeping the natural ecosystem in balance. The forests are of ilexes, oaks, pines and aromatic herbs, these feed in to the vineyards and give the grapes a distinctive flavor. One of our policies is to be as ecological as possible in the cultivation of the grapes, for example our fertilizer is weeds cut from between the vines and used to make compost in its own natural way. The blanket of compost also protects the slopes from erosion. Another of our natural ways is to use organic insecticide. All these things add to the beauty of the wine and this also is part in parcel of our respect for mother earth. After harvesting the organic grapes we start the wine process. The fermentation of the grapes takes place in small stainless-steel tubs. Then it is moved into oak barrels to age and finally bottled where its stays several months to guarantee the quality of a unique wine. Priorat and Montsant are neighboring wine regions, where Cellers CAPAFONS-OSSÓ produce wines. Both regions differ in their terrain, microclimates, varieties of grapes, and historical and geographical aspects. This area until now has been relatively unknown in the wine world. Thanks to the wine school of the village Falset la "Escola d’Enologia Jaume Ciurana" in the last few years, we have advanced in our wine making techniques and furthered our professional reputation. Our family is able to offer these wines to you as the fruits of their constant and rigorous labor and passion for their land and vineyards of the Priorat region. Our family tradition is to produce wine with care and love and we hope this transmits when you taste our wines.
