Larsen
:Name of Vineyard
The LARSEN firm was founded in 1926 by Jens-Reidar LARSEN, a young Norwegian, who arrived in Bordeaux in 1919. He settled shortly afterwards in Cognac, charmed by the inimitable atmosphere of the small Charentes town and there, discovered the refinement of its famous eau-de-vie. Having become a fine connoisseur, and driven by a innate business acumen, he bought the small firm of Cognac Joseph Gautier and the launched his own "Larsen" brand which soon prospered on Scandinavian markets, particularly in Norway. Having married a native of Cognac, he had a son who took over the Larsen firm and made the brand prosper around the world. The third generation has already taken the reins of the family business and made the LARSEN brand an international symbol of sophistication and quality. Today, there is a proof that this encounter between men from the north and a tradition, the fruit of a French regional soil, can achieve remarkable results. Cognac LARSEN is developed using distilled wines exclusively from the well defined region of Cognac growing districts such as Borderies, Fins Bois, Petite and Grande Champagne. The blending is performed with the greatest care by the Cellar Master to give Cognac LARSEN its unique character determined by its founder, the finesse of which is recognized the world over. For three generations, the Larsen family has built up a substantial stock of very old cognacs aged in casks and Limousin oak barrels, meaning that it is ideally positioned to offer its clientele of connoisseurs very mature cognacs, some of which are products of harvests from the last century. The LARSEN family likes to recall that contrary to common belief, the term "VIKING" does not refer to a nation, an ethnic group or a race, but to a state of mind which was that of the ancient conquerors who left the Scandinavian coasts to travel the seas and the world, in particular to Cognac.
