Domaine Collet
:Name of Vineyard
From generation to generation, since 1792, the Collet family has devoted their lives to the vine, and to wine making.
Gilles, son of Jean, represents the third generation of Collets; Marius Collet and his wife Agnès (née Pinot) being the first.
From 1952, Jean worked his land, which was at that time 61 ares (1,53 acres) of vines, and began by selling his harvest in-bulk to negociants. In 1954, Jean began to bottle a portion of his harvest and by 1959 was exporting some of his wine to the United States.
In 1979, Gilles joined his father and the Domaine became known as the Jean Collet et Fils, which he now runs with his wife, Dominique.
The Collet family have always been proactive by nature, and have never hesitated to invest in their winery. Their concern to better serve their clients always comes first.
The cellar and the production facility are located in the heart of Chablis itself, where tradition and modernism live together. It is this image that epitomizes the pride and know-how of the Collet family.
Chardonnay is the only grape varietal used to produce Chablis, and is in fact considered one of the finest white wine grapes. With Chablis, the Chardonnay grape finds a finesse and a distinctive mineral quality which is unmatched anywhere in the world.
The parcels of Domaine Collet are located on the best hills on both the right and left banks of the river Serein, and produce a generous wine full of charm. The meticulous care with which the harvest is carried out, from the way the vines are worked through to the vinification, bring that something extra to each of the different Crus.
The philosophy of Domaine Collet has always been to work the vines within the balanced framework of respecting the soil and controlling yields, seeking to valorise the unique “terroir” of Chablis.
