The fruit for our wine came from two vineyards in the Coombsville district east of the city of Napa. These vineyards differ from each other in many ways, and the grapes we harvest from them compliment each other beautifully. The Que Syrah Vineyard is ten years old and is planted on a steep hillside with shallow soils. The vine rows are tightly spaced, which stresses the vines as they compete for limited available nutrients. The result is grapes that make wine with crisp acidity, firm tannins, and good complexity. The Reichow Vineyard is located on the Napa Valley floor. It is a younger vineyard with vines that are not planted as closely together and do not have to work as hard to find nutrients in the soil. The grapes we get from this vineyard make a wine with rich, supple fruit and a smooth mouthfeel. Together, the grapes from these two vineyards yield a wine that erupts with exotic flavors and has a classic structure. This wine promises to age gracefully.
