York Mountain’s longer growing season gives us a wine of seamless integration, structure, grip, and focused flavors. An exciting contrast to Paso Robles styled Syrahs, this cooler climate version delivers the bright fruit-driven concentration of red and black berries (think boysenberries) together with high-toned licorice aromatics. Celebrated as a great vintage, the 2004 season offers generous flavors and density with nuances of loamy soil and minerality intermingled with hints of lavender and fine English leather. Drink now through 2014.
