Our newly-released third vintage of Cabernet Franc is all we hoped it would be. 2002 was a perfect year for our kind of wine; a long, cool growing season with a couple weeks of heat towards the end to get the sugars up and we get a wine with elegance, depth and intensity.
This deep-garnet wine has a beautiful, classic nose of violets, rose leaf, cocoa, blueberry and black plum fruit with a delicate layer of toasty vanilla.
It is incredible that a wine this smooth and balanced contains such intricate flavors. Smooth, lightly gripping tannins propel flavors of ripe black plums and currants accented by underlying notes of tobacco and darjeeling tea. Sweet-tart blueberry and smoky, meaty flavors resonate through the amazingly persistent finish. This wine is truly a mouth full of joy!
With balanced tannins and a touch of acidity that lightens the rich fruit, this wine makes for fool-proof pairing. With dishes from duck, pork and ribeye to lasagna or Indian, you can relax and savor flavors you didn’t think were possible!
