Aromas of ripe plum, raspberry and violet. Bright, red fruit flavors with hints of spice, cedar and black olive on the finish. Beautifully balanced with soft, lingering, tannins.
The experts call 2002 a “sleeper vintage” – meaning good wine could only be produced through skilled winemaking, but those who managed to do so were rewarded with great flavors but low yields. Weather conditions led to uneven ripening of grape clusters, making it necessary to selectively hand-harvest the crop. By manually selecting only the ripest fruit during each harvesting pass through the vineyard, we were rewarded with a wine that has generous, rich flavors and excellent balance.
