The 2002 vintage in Paso Robles produced intense fruit flavors and aromas. The weather was nearly perfect which allowed the grapes to reach full maturity with great balance in acid and sugar. You will find that this Merlot has a subtle but full nose of fruit and oak. We use a combination of newer and older American oak barrels to attain the barrel aged character without an overbearing oak component. This wine is great with any roasted meat or vegetable dish. Try it with barbecued steaks smoked with wine soaked oak staves for a real treat!
