The 2008 Le Haut-Lieu was, in my opinion, the perfect expression of its vintage. The nose was classic Vouvray: lemon, fresh citrus and lychee, but with a suprising hint of vanilla. Wonderfully bright fruit and delicate florals are soft and round in the mouth, and the healthy acidity of 2008 is ever-present. The finish is delicate but persistent, with a touch of butterscotch.
