The 2006 season began with an unusually cold and wet March and April. Near record precipitation soon abated, and May and June produced ideal weather for flowering and set. The remainder of the growing season was long and unusually cool, punctuated by weeklong heat spell in July. The cool temperatures prolonged the growing season allowing the fruit longer hang time and the opportunity to ripen completely. Harvest commenced at a leisurely pace, beginning in September and lasting through until late October. The long growing season demanded skill and vigilance from our growers and winemaker, but ultimately produced and excellent vintage with depth and concentrated ripe fruit flavors.
