Winemaker Notes: 100% Estate grown fruit at Larkmead Vineyards 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot Aged for 20 months in 60% new French oak barrels from Tonnelleries Darnajou, Demptos & Sylvain Alcohol 14.7%. Tasting notes: "Deep ruby red/purple color. Intense aromatics of sweet black cherry, cassis and violets broaden to show floral perfume notes, dark cocoa powder and complex minerals. The palate features an explosive core of sweet black fruits and an elegant yet luscious mouth feel which deepens and concentrates with aeration. The youthful chewy tannins provide balance and length and the wine finishes with great inner-mouth purity. A classic, elegant vintage in a similar vein to our 2001 Estate Cabernet, the wine features a complex array of cool climate aromas and flavors as befits this long cool growing season. The overriding sense of sleek minerality and 'Larkmead purity' provide an element of finesse and approachability that is currently hard to resist, yet all the components are present for a decade of positive bottle-development."
