Review: Chateau De La Bonneliere 2006 Chinon

Author By: Meghan Dwyer

Cabernet Franc, from a small bio-dynamic estate in Chinon in the Loire Valley. This wine is simple and straightforward.  The nose started off a little hot, but after being open an hour or two, softened up to release bright red cherry and hints of cedar and spice.  On the palette simple and pure fruit reigns supreme, and there is no trace of the vegetal characteristic so typical of this grape from this region.  Soft and silky, with a racy acidic backbone, it goes down smoothly but fails to finish.  A medium bodied, easy drinking, no brainer at $17.
